Daily Brains · ten brain-test questions a day: reasoning, verbal, spatial, memory and focus.

IQ Test 10 is the brain-test puzzle in Daily Brains (/daily). Every day the whole world gets the same ten questions, built from the item types real reasoning and attention tests use: matrix grids with a missing piece, number and letter series, verbal analogies, odd-one-outs, mental rotation, cube nets, digit and block span, a colour-word count, symbol coding and a tap-only-when focus stream. Every item is original. The figures, series and memory items are generated fresh for each day and checked so that exactly one option is right. It is a puzzle for fun: the score is not an IQ, and nothing in it is a medical or psychological assessment or a diagnosis of anything, ADHD included.

STORY & LORE

Five domains, two questions each

Every day has two questions from each of five domains. Reasoning: a matrix plus a number or letter series. Verbal: an analogy plus an odd one out. Spatial: mental rotation plus cube folding. Memory: digit span plus block span. Focus: the focus stream plus either the colour-word count or the symbol code. The ten are shuffled so the same domain never comes twice in a row, and each question is a little harder than the one before.

How the items are made

Matrices are built from rules (counts that climb, a shape or fill that appears once per row, turning arrows, sums, and line pictures that stack, cancel or subtract), then a rule reader tries every rule a person might see and keeps the grid only if all of them agree on one piece. Distractors change one feature of the answer or copy a neighbouring cell, so they look right at a glance. Series come from twelve families (steps, doubling, growing gaps, alternating steps, two interleaved series, sums of the two before, squares, cubes, multiply-then-add and more) and are kept only when no other reading predicts any of the options. Rotation shapes are lopsided polyominoes whose mirror image can never be turned back into them. Cube nets are random six-square nets that actually fold. Faces use symbols that look the same after a quarter turn, so a cube is defined by which faces meet and in what order. The verbal items come from a hand-written bank of 191 (107 analogies, 84 odd-one-outs) in three tiers.

Checked every build

scripts/test-iq-test-10.mjs walks 400 days and re-derives every answer with separate code: an independent matrix rule reader, a series family solver, a point-set rotation matcher, and a cube rolled across the mirrored net (a different method from the game's own folding) to confirm the keyed cube is a real corner and every other cube is impossible. It also recounts every colour-word, code, span and stream item, and checks the domain mix and the difficulty ramp.

HOW IT PLAYS

Answering

Tap an option or press its letter (or 1–8). Each question has a gentle clock ring: about 30 seconds for an easy verbal item, up to about 100 seconds for a hard matrix. The ring turns pink for the last ten seconds, and running out counts as a miss. You don't find out if you were right until the end, the way a real test works.

Memory items

Digit span flashes 4–7 digits one at a time. You type them back in the same order (easy days), in reverse order, or sorted smallest to largest (hard days). Block span lights up 3–6 squares on an irregular board; tap them back in the same order, or in reverse order on harder days.

Focus items

The focus stream shows 22–34 letters, one at a time. Tap (or press Space) only when the probe letter comes straight after the cue letter, and ignore the traps: the probe on its own, or the cue followed by something else. You must catch every target, with one stray tap allowed on easier days and none on harder ones. The colour-word item asks how many words are printed in the colour they name, how many are in a given ink, or how many say a colour but are printed in another. Symbol code gives a key of 6–9 symbols, including mirror-image look-alike pairs, and a row to decode.

The week

Monday · Warm-up through Tuesday · Steady, Wednesday · Tricky, Thursday · Tough, Friday · Hard and Saturday · Expert to Sunday · Genius. Each day covers a window of difficulty (Monday 0.0–0.4, Sunday 0.6–1.0) that climbs from question 1 to question 10. Harder means more rules at once in matrices, XOR and subtract overlays, interleaved or multiplying series, finer rotation angles with a nearly-identical decoy, mirror-image cube decoys, longer or reversed spans, faster streams and more look-alike symbols.

Scoring and the brain score

A right answer is worth 70 points plus up to 30 for speed (for the stream, speed is your reaction time to the targets), so the brain score runs from 0 to 1000. The results card shows the score, how many of the 10 you got right, a title (Warming Up, Curious Mind, Sharp Thinker, Quick Wit, Big Brain, Full Marks) and a five-domain profile. Below it, every question is shown again with your answer, the right answer and a plain explanation. Five or more right keeps your streak; ten is a perfect day.

Saving and sharing

Progress saves after every answer and follows your account. Close the tab mid-test and you resume at the next unanswered question. A memory display or focus stream that was cut off starts again, and answered questions never come back. The share line gives the puzzle number, the day, your brain score and ten squares (■ right, □ missed), with no questions or answers.
