A 20-second-to-learn tabletop duel. Shove the enemy King clean off the table.
Shove! is a bite-sized two-player board duel on a small wooden table. On your turn you either step one of your pucks a single square, or SHOVE a neighbouring puck — friend or foe — and send it skidding until it clonks into something, or flies clean off the table and is gone. Here's the catch: every square you step off of crumbles into a hole behind you, so the board is always falling apart under both of you. Knock the enemy King off the edge (or down a hole) to win. Pass-and-play with a friend, or run a win streak against the CPU.
Two crews of pucks, red and blue, each with a crowned King, share a little wooden table barely big enough for both. There is no safe ground: step off a square and it collapses into a hole. Every move you make makes the world smaller — for you as much as for them.
You don't have to touch the enemy to ruin their day. Line up on a puck — any puck — and shove. It slides in a straight line until it clonks into a wall of other pieces… or sails off the edge into nothing. Chain a shove into a shove into the King and the whole table clears in one satisfying clatter.
You win exactly one way: get the enemy King off the table or into a hole. You lose if you're ever left with no legal move — boxed in by holes and edges with nowhere to step and no one to shove. Position is everything on a table this small.
Each side's crowned piece. The entire game is about geometry around these two: keep yours away from edges and holes, and engineer the shove that sends theirs over the side.
Ordinary pucks. Step them one square to reposition and crumble ground, or use them as ammo — a shoved puck skids until it hits something, so your own men double as battering rams.
The real enemy is the terrain. Every crumbled square is a trap for both players, and the table edge is always one good shove away. Master the board and it fights for you.
Move a puck one square in any direction — but the square you leave crumbles into a hole. Every step permanently shrinks the safe ground, so casual repositioning has a real cost.
Instead of stepping, shove any puck beside you — yours or the enemy's. It skids in that direction and doesn't stop until it clonks into another piece or a wall… or runs out of table and drops off. It's the core trick and the whole game.
A puck shoved past the edge, or into a hole, is removed for good. That's how you thin the enemy crew — and, one shove at a time, how you set up the kill.
Knock the enemy King off the table or down a hole and you win instantly, no matter the board state. Everything else is setup for that single moment.
If you start your turn with no legal step and no legal shove — hemmed in by holes and edges — you lose. On a crumbling table, running yourself out of options is a real way to go.
Hand the device back and forth for local two-player, or take on the computer and build a win streak for STREAK PTS on the leaderboard. It's a 20-second explanation and a surprisingly deep little duel.
