Ancient Roman Tetris — stack the blocks, clear the lines, ascend the ranks. Vale!

Romino is a Roman-themed block-stacker: the classic falling-tetromino game dressed in gold, marble and imperial numerals, with a twist. Alongside the seven standard pieces, Romino adds three bonus 'Roman' blocks — a fat rectangle, a five-cell bar, and a U — that change how you clear. Hold a piece, read the ghost preview, slam a hard drop, and clear lines to ascend the ranks level by level. There's a togglable 8-bit soundtrack for the full retro-forum-arcade feel. Vale!

STORY & LORE

Blocks of the Republic

Same falling blocks you know, rebuilt as a Roman monument: a gilded well framed in laurel-gold, HOLD and NEXT bays like marble niches, and a LEVEL counter that climbs in Roman numerals — I, II, III, and up. Each rank shifts the palette, so the deeper you go, the more the whole board changes colour.

The Three Roman Pieces

Where most stackers give you seven shapes, Romino slips three more into the bag. A solid 2×3 rectangle, a long five-cell bar, and an open U-block — each with its own true rotation. They break the usual rhythm: the bar can wipe five rows at once, the U leaves gaps that reward clever placement, the rectangle is a brick wall when you need one.

Ascend the Ranks

Clearing lines pushes your level up, and up, toward Centurion territory at Level X and beyond — each rank faster than the last. Push your score toward a Caesar's fortune, chase the big multi-line clears, and end every good run with the only sign-off that matters: Vale!

CHARACTERS & ENEMIES

🔱The BarThe five-cell Roman barALLY

Romino's signature bonus piece — a full five cells long. Stand it up in a deep well and clear FIVE lines in a single drop for the Pentus Maximus feat, something a normal stacker can never do.

Length 5 cellsEnables 5-line clears
🧱The RectangleThe 2×3 Roman brickALLY

A solid six-cell rectangle. Ungainly for tight gaps but a dependable wall for building flat, stable ground — the mason's block.

Size 2×3Role flat builder
🏛️The U-BlockThe open Roman UALLY

A U-shaped piece with a notch built in. It always leaves a one-cell pocket, so it punishes lazy placement and rewards players who plan two moves ahead.

HOW IT PLAYS

Stack, Clear, Repeat

Falling blocks drift down the well; slot them to fill complete rows and those rows clear. Standard modern comforts are here — a HOLD bay to stash a piece for later, a NEXT queue, a ghost preview showing where the piece will land, and wall-kick rotation so pieces twist cleanly against the walls.

Three Bonus Pieces

On top of the seven classics (I, J, L, O, S, Z, T), Romino mixes in the 2×3 rectangle, the five-cell bar, and the U-block — each with real 90° rotation. They open clears the standard set can't, most famously the five-line drop.

Hard Drop & Hold

Soft-drop to nudge a piece down, or hard-drop to slam it home instantly and lock it. Hold swaps the current piece into the bay for when you need it — essential for saving the bar until the well is deep enough.

Ascend the Ranks

Every cleared line pushes toward the next level, shown as a Roman numeral. Higher ranks drop faster and repaint the board's palette, so climbing to Centurion (Level X) both looks and feels different from Level I.

Big Roman Clears

Four lines at once is a Quadrus; five at once — only possible with the long bar — is the Pentus Maximus. Chasing these, plus a five-figure Caesar's Fortune score, is where the run turns from survival into showing off.

8-Bit Soundtrack

A togglable chiptune soundtrack with its own volume slider — flip on the 8-bit mode for the full retro-arcade sitting. Keyboard-driven and single-player, built for one-more-run score chasing.
