See the danger. Take the deal. Survive the room.
Overbold is a compact top-down arena roguelite. Every room asks whether you want the safer clear or the more dangerous payout: fight tight waves, collect scrap, buy a practical combat boon, or accept a free mutator that makes the room nastier and the reward bigger.
Overbold's danger is meant to be readable. Enemies and their bullets are the conversation; rooms escalate through visible waves rather than invisible punishment.
The name is the contract. A safe build can scrape through, but a bold runner stacks risk, score and scrap until every room becomes a wager.
Move, aim and fire constantly. Momentum is defence; standing still is an invitation.
Fast chasers, ranged threats and larger bodies combine into patterns the player can read and route around.
A room clears in discrete waves. Reinforcements now announce themselves before arriving, giving the player time to reposition rather than taking a random unavoidable hit.
Kills and pickups earn scrap. Spend it between rooms on direct combat improvements such as damage, speed and firing power; save up for the build that fits the run.
Risk cards are free because they make survival harder. Blood Pact doubles enemies, score and scrap—strong if you can actually control the arena.
| Choice | Cost | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Combat boon | Scrap | Reliable increase to a core stat. |
| Risky mutator | Free | More danger for stronger score/scrap potential. |
| Blood Pact | Free | Double enemies, score and scrap. |
